The Outdoor Recreation Matching and FUN Grant application process has undergone a major redesign for the FY’27 cycle. Our team has completely restructured the Application Guide, updated scoring criteria, clarified documentation requirements, and introduced a new priority framework to better reflect the mission and values of the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation.
These updates were made to ensure the program is:
More transparent — applicants can now clearly see how every part of the application is evaluated.
More aligned with statewide outdoor recreation priorities — including SCORP 2025–2030.
More efficient and predictable — with streamlined materials, clearer instructions, and a scoring system that rewards strong planning and community engagement.
More focused on high‑impact, natural‑resource‑based recreation — as reflected in the new High Priority Project categories.
Because these changes are significant, all applicants—new and returning—should carefully review the FY’27 Application Guide before beginning an application. Many requirements, scoring elements, and priority definitions have changed.
A few key reminders:
Several documents now serve dual roles in both eligibility and scoring.
High Priority Projects are now clearly defined and emphasized.
Project readiness and SCORP alignment carry greater weight.
Applications missing required materials cannot be scored or considered.
We strongly encourage applicants to read the guide in full, use the checklists provided, and begin gathering materials early. Your careful attention to the updated process will help ensure a smooth application experience and a more competitive submission.
