Great Strides Program Grants


Mission

The mission of the Outdoor Recreation Grants Program is to improve the management, planning and overall quality of Arkansas's outdoor recreation resources through advocacy, research, technical assistance and grant funding.

MATCHING Grants

  • Eligible applicants: all municipalities and counties in Arkansas
  • Maximum award: up to $250,000* + an equal match by applicant

    *We welcome grant applications surpassing $250,000, albeit on a restricted and finite basis. The ORGP Committee will assess applications based upon available funding and demonstrated need.

  • Eligible projects: development of outdoor recreation facilities and land acquisition
  • Funding: reimbursement up to 50% of project costs
  • Grant completion timeframe: grant projects should be completed within two years of the award notice

FUN PARK Grants

  • Eligible applicants: municipalities in Arkansas with populations of 7,500 or less and unincorporated communities; sponsored by the county
  • Maximum award: up to $100,000 (no match required)
  • Eligible projects: development of most outdoor recreation facilities
  • Funding: grantee will be issued the entire grant amount prior to project development
  • Grant completion timeframe: Grant project should be completed within two years of award notice
  • Application guide: Projects should be completed within one year of contract date

Great Strides Program Grants

Trails for Life

  • Eligible applicants: all municipalities and counties in Arkansas
  • Maximum award: up to $250,000 (no match required)
  • Eligible projects: development of walking trails and associated facilities including accessible parking, signage and benches
  • Funding: grantee will be issued the entire grant amount prior to project development
  • Grant completion timeframe: grant projects should be completed within one year of award notice
