Fly Oz is an aviation club based in Bentonville, Arkansas, designed for those passionate about flying in the beautiful Ozark region and beyond. Fly Oz brings the adventure of the skies to everyone, whether you’re a plane owner, student pilot, or someone seeking memorable experiences in the air.
It operates from Thaden Field to give aviation a social element and help aviators share the costs of operating aircraft.
Community is at the heart of Fly Oz. The Fly Oz lounge is a central hub for members to network and enjoy food and drink. The club provides opportunities to connect with fellow aviation enthusiasts, participate in club events, and attend training sessions.
Fly Oz offers three membership tiers, each crafted to meet different levels of engagement and access. This tiered structure ensures that every aviation lover can find the right fit, whether they want to casually explore or fly more frequently.
With the Ozarks as a stunning backdrop, Fly Oz offers access to a fleet of aircraft, each suited to different flying adventures. Members can enjoy scenic flights over Northwest Arkansas, weekend getaways with family or friends, or more adventurous journeys across the region to backcountry airstrips. From Bentonville, aviators can access 60 grass strips within 80 nautical miles of the airport that contain wilderness, rivers, hiking, mountain bike trails and even restaurants. Popular locations include Kings River Outfitters near Eureka Springs, Byrd’s Adventure Center in Ozark and Gaston’s White River Resort in Lakeview. Thus, the Bentonville airport is becoming a jump-off point for adventure.
Fly Oz is housed in the 22,000-square-foot Thaden Fieldhouse. Built on the northwest corner of the airport, it opened in September of 2018 and houses an aviation exhibit hangar, conference room, lounge and restaurant. It is named for Louise McPhetridge Thaden, a famous aviator in the 1920s and 1930s who grew up in Bentonville. Summit Aviation flight school for students of all levels is operated on the second floor of the building and the Fly Oz Lounge is on the third floor.
The Fieldhouse also has an outdoor area where people can watch planes take off and land. Adjacent to the property is Lake Bentonville, where people can rent kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards to enjoy on the lake. There is also a walking trail around it.
