Cedar Falls Overlook Stroll
Join a park interpreter for this easy, handicap accessible, ¼-mile stroll. We will talk about some of the things that make Petit Jean State Park a special place, as well as enjoy the view of Cedar Falls from the overlook. Please bring water to drink.
Finding Woody
Woodpeckers scatter the forest here at Lake Catherine State Park. Join Park Interpreter Carrie at the amphitheater to learn more about these birds and go on a search for a few. We will walk 1/2-mile at the conclusion of this program. Please bring good shoes and water. The program will take about 45 minutes.
Pottery Craft
Make a coil pot or pinch pot and learn about the Mississippian pottery in the Parkin Archeological State Park Museum. The craft will be set up from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Enjoy the park while you’re here! There is a small material charge for each item made.
Native American Rock Art
Meet Park Interpreter Emiley to see how the paintings at Rock House may have been created. Afterwards, you will make your own pictograph on canvas. This activity will last approximately 30 minutes and provides a fun way for families with kids to connect with the outdoors and make a project that captures your special state park memories.
