Civil War Round Table of the Delta – The Freedmen’s Bureau and Arkansas

The era following our American Civil War was a tumultuous time for this country and an especially difficult time for newly freed African Americans, as they made their way into this changed world. The Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, usually referred to as just the Freedmen’s Bureau, was an agency of early Reconstruction assisting freedmen in the South. Meet Dr. Kyle Day, Professor at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, who will discuss the impact of the Freedmen’s Bureau on the Arkansas Delta.
