The Civil War led to major changes for African Americans, including new opportunities within the military. Many African American men served their country in the U.S. Army, where they would proudly be known as Buffalo Soldiers. Meet George Pettigrew, Vice President of the Alexander/Madison Chapter of KC Buffalo Soldiers, as he recounts the story of one such soldier named Isaac Johnson.
